Under heaven nothing is more soft and yielding than water. Yet for attacking the solid and the strong, nothing is better; It has no equal. The weak can overcome the strong; The supple can overcome the stiff. Under heaven everyone knows this, yet no one puts it into practice. What is Tai Chi Chuan?Tai Chi Chuan is a way of movement and meditation that originates from Chinese Martial Arts, Medicine and Philosophy. It is a powerful and practical way to harmonise and transform the health of the body and mind through the circulation and cultivation of "Chi" or "Life-force". Through practising Tai Chi you learn ways to improve self confidence, help relaxation, correct posture, aid concentration, and improve energy levels and fitness, all of which make it an excellent antidote to many of the stresses and strains of modern day living. In the Infiniteway School we train Yang and Nanpai styles and teach all 3 aspects, Healing, Martial arts, and Meditation, for a complete understanding of Tai Chi Chuan. Internal Martial ArtsTai Chi Chuan is a very practical and effective method of self defence. With practise you can learn how to neutralise or redirect an attack by using an opponents strength and aggression against them. Through working with standing postures you learn how to awaken the Dantien (the vital energy centre below the navel) to activate the body's energy system, and generate strong internal forces for healing and martial arts. The training of hand forms teaches you how to relax and flow smoothly from one movement to the next, and by practising sensing and pushing hands you learn how to stick, follow and interpret another persons movement and intention. All of this helps to build confidence, internal strength and awareness, along with a strong calm body and mind able to deal effectively with changing life situations.
Healing & MeditationGood health and mental clarity are a natural effect of practising Tai Chi correctly. The movements are performed by the whole body so stimulating the flow of blood and Chi through the internal organs, muscles and joints. The nervous system is calmed, and the mind falls into a naturally receptive and relaxed state where healing can take place. As one becomes aware of the flow of internal energy through the body, it becomes possible to clear the subtle blocks that bring disharmony to body and mind. The practise of Tai Chi is excellent way for healers to strengthen, cleanse and recharge before and after treatments.
PhilosophyTai Chi follows the philosophy of Yin and Yang, a dynamic play of opposites that describes the functioning of the cosmos and all that is contained in it. Through dedicated practise, it is possible to gain to a deep understanding of the subtle interconnection between Earth, Human beings and the Cosmos. Through practise, insight and understanding one can realise the Tao of Tai Chi.
